Grant access to your e-mailbox and enjoy an uninterrupted break.
If you are unable to, do not have time to, or simply do not wish to deal with the “correspondence” in your electronic mailbox (e-mailbox), which you have activated either mandatorily or voluntarily for the receipt of electronic deliveries, you can simply authorise other trusted individuals to manage it on your behalf, such as family members, friends, or company employees (Fig. 1). You can subsequently change or revoke the authorisation at any time.
Notice:
Please do not confuse granting access to and allowing the management of an e-mailbox with authorisation to perform legal acts on behalf of that person or in their name. The authority to act is governed by rules similar to those applicable to paper-based communication. Accordingly, in electronic communication, such authority must be demonstrated in one of the ways prescribed by law (Section 23(4)Opens in a new window and Section 23(5)Opens in a new window of the e-Government Act).
For paper correspondence, you can give a person you trust a key to your mailbox for any reason and, if necessary, issue them with a power of attorney authorising them to collect postal items delivered into the recipient’s own hands.
Similarly, for electronic messages delivered to your electronic mailbox on the slovensko.sk portal, you can arrange access for a trusted person.
The authorised person will use their electronic identity card (eID) [1] with an electronic chip and their Personal Security Code (BOK) as the “key” to your electronic mailbox. We recommend checking these details in advance to avoid a situation in which your authorised representative is unable to log in to your electronic mailbox during your absence—for example, because they have forgotten their BOK or their eID is no longer valid.
You can subsequently grant a power of attorney to one or more selected persons, either in paper form or electronically. We recommend opting for the electronic method, which is simple, fast, free of charge and environmentally friendly.
Paper application forms for granting authorisation can be found in the FormsOpens in a new window section under the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic.
Access to and management of an electronic mailbox can be either full or partial.
With full access, you allow the selected person to manage all folders in your electronic mailbox. They will be able to read, delete, move and upload messages, create and delete folders, and configure rules for storing messages in those folders.
With partial access, you can restrict the selected person’s permissions and specify them in more detail. This option is useful if you want a particular person (for example, an assistant at your company) to have access only to certain messages in subfolders or to be able to perform only specific actions. For instance, they may be allowed to read and move messages but not accept delivery of, or delete, them.
To ensure that you do not miss any messages delivered to your electronic mailbox or the deadlines associated with them, we would also like to highlight the option to set up notifications via SMS or email.
