How to begin electronic communication with the government
If you are new to the slovensko.sk portal, this guide is just for you. It describes the basic steps you need to take to use the portal for electronic communication with government agencies. Each step includes links to additional useful information and articles that will help you find your way around more easily.
1. Get an eID card
Important information
When collecting your eID card, set up your BOK (Personal Security Code required for logging in).
At the same time, do not forget to request that signing certificates be uploaded to the eID card chip. These certificates will allow you to create a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES). You can also request the certificates online at a later date; more information is available in the GuideOpens in a new window.
• eID client application – for logging in. • Drivers – for the card reader. • Application for qualified electronic signatures – for signing. • The software can be found in the Software applications for downloadOpens in a new windowsection in a single installation package.
• General Agenda Every authority that has a mailbox on slovensko.sk is automatically assigned a General Agenda service.
The first option is suitable when you know exactly which application you want to submit.
The second option is intended for situations where the relevant authority or ministry does not have a specific e-service available, or when you need to submit another type of application.
Useful information
Electronic services are published in the Electronic Services section by the public authorities themselves. These services include, for example, services related to the Commercial and Trade Registers, the Land Registry, the Public Procurement Office, the Central Reporting Office, vehicle registration, or applications for social benefits administered by the Ministry of Labour.
4. Log in to your electronic mailbox
• What do I need it for? Authorities accept electronic applications from citizens through the mailbox. A citizen's mailbox activated for electronic delivery is intended for receiving electronic decisions from authorities.
• How do I get one? If you are over 18 and are a Slovak citizen, an electronic mailbox is automatically created for you on the slovensko.sk portal. If you are not a Slovak citizen, you need to apply for an electronic mailbox to be established.
• How much does it cost to set one up? EUR 0. If you are not a Slovak citizen, you only pay for the official verification of your signature on the application and for sending the application by post.
After successfully logging in to your electronic mailbox, you can activate it for electronic delivery. This will allow you to receive decisions (documents) electronically.
