When working with an electronic mailbox, you are handling sensitive information and therefore, you should never allow unauthorised persons access to your web browser through which you logged in. Furthermore, we do not recommend logging in on shared computers where you do not have control over the installed software.
After ending your work in your electronic mailbox or on the portal, we recommend you to log out correctly and check if the logging out process was completed successfully. After making sure the process has been completed, you may close the web browser and take out your ID from the chip card reader.
Additionally, you are advised to ensure prevention of loss, theft or the use of your identity card by other persons to the greatest extent. Therefore, we recommend you keep your identity card in a safe place, out of the reach of others. Make sure your security codes remain a secret from others and never share them with anyone else. In case you need to write down your security codes, never keep the written down codes and your identity card together. In the event of a loss, theft or suspected misuse of your identity card, inform the police immediately and ensure cancellation of stored certificates either during a personal visit to the documents department or via an electronic serviceOpens in a new window (only available if you previously used the modification of contact informationOpens in a new window service and entered the so-called discrete data).
