Why do I have a message titled “Delivery Notification” in my e-mailbox?
If you receive a “Notification of Delivery” in your electronic mailbox, do not ignore it! It means that a public authority is sending you an electronic decision that must be delivered into your own hands. You must first confirm receipt via the “Notification of Delivery” by entering your Personal Security Code (BOK). Only then will the contents of the decision become accessible in your electronic mailbox.

Note to Figure 1
With paper-based delivery, a postal worker delivers the decision to you. If you are not at home when they arrive, you must collect the decision in person from the post office. Your handwritten signature is required to confirm successful receipt. The authority must also wait for confirmation that the document has been delivered.
With electronic delivery, the decision is delivered directly to your electronic mailbox. You can be virtually anywhere. To confirm successful receipt, you must enter your BOK (Personal Security Code). The authority is notified immediately that you have received the decision. This is a more environmentally friendly solution that saves time and reduces the costs of materials and transportation.
A public authority (government office or institution) may send a decision for delivery into the recipient’s own hands only to an electronic mailbox that has been activated for delivery. If you are an individual or a self-employed individual, you can currently activate your electronic mailbox for delivery voluntarily, upon request. For more information, see the article What Is the Purpose of Activating an Electronic Mailbox for Delivery?Opens in a new window.
When you find a message in your electronic mailbox whose subject begins with the words “Notification of Delivery”, you must first open the notification and click the green “Receive” button. You must then enter your six-digit BOK (Personal Security Code) to view the actual text of the decision.
You will subsequently see the message “Proof of delivery has been sent successfully”, which means that the authority has been informed that you have received the decision. The proof of delivery is saved in your “Sent” folder, and the contents of the decision become accessible to you. The “Notification of Delivery” will also display the status label “Received”.
The “Notification of Delivery” contains, for example, brief information about the sender, the date on which the document was placed in your electronic mailbox, the period allowed for collection (normally 15 days, unless a specific law stipulates a different storage period), and the consequences of failing to receive the decision.
You may receive several decisions in your electronic mailbox at the same time, meaning that you will receive several “Notifications of Delivery”. However, you can receive all of them at once using the “Receive Proofs of Delivery” button. Warning
A decision sent for personal delivery under the deemed-delivery regime is considered delivered and read, and therefore has legal effect, even if you have not confirmed receipt by clicking the green “Receive” button within the storage period. In other words, this applies even if you have not viewed the contents of the decision and the storage period has expired.
To avoid missing important deadlines, we recommend setting up notifications by email or SMS. This way, you will be notified whenever a new message arrives in your electronic mailbox, and you will not need to check its contents every day.
