What is the purpose of activating an e-mailbox for electronic delivery?
An electronic mailbox (e-mailbox) serves as an official means of communication with public authorities. If you need to submit an official filing, such as an application to a public authority (a court, various government offices, the Social Insurance Agency, etc.), you can do so via your e-mailbox. Natural persons, self-employed individuals, and legal entities cannot communicate with one another through this system; it is intended solely for communication with public authorities. To replace paper-based communication with public authorities with fully electronic communication, you must activate your e-mailbox for the electronic delivery of official documents.
For natural persons and self-employed individuals, activation of the electronic mailbox for the purpose of receiving official documents is voluntary. This means that you can decide whether or not to activate your electronic mailbox for electronic delivery. If you leave it inactive, public authorities are required to deliver official documents intended to have legal effect to you in paper form (by post).
You can submit documents to public authorities electronically through your electronic mailbox even if it has not been activated for electronic delivery. Activation for electronic delivery does not affect the sending of messages; it only affects their delivery.
As regards legal entities registered in the Commercial Register and public authorities, their electronic mailboxes are automatically activated for the receipt of official documents by law.
Activating the Electronic Mailbox for Electronic Delivery
The first step is to log in to your electronic mailbox. Only the mailbox owner can activate the mailbox for electronic delivery. Other persons who are authorised to use the mailbox cannot activate or deactivate it for electronic delivery.

Then submit the application by clicking “Submit” and confirm the submission by entering your Personal Security Code (BOK).
You will subsequently receive two messages in your electronic mailbox, both with the subject “Information”: the first confirms that your application has been submitted, and the second confirms that your electronic mailbox has been activated for electronic delivery.
Your electronic mailbox will be activated for electronic delivery on the date specified in your application, but no earlier than the third working day after the application has been delivered.
