Establishment of an electronic mailbox for a natural person

An electronic mailbox is automatically established for a Slovak citizen on the day they turn 18. The mailbox is established free of charge for every citizen, without the need to submit an application. You can log in to the mailbox on the homepage of the slovensko.sk portal by selecting “Log in to the portal” in the upper-right corner of the screen.

An electronic mailbox can also be established for a citizen under the age of 18. A citizen may request its establishment through an electronic serviceOpens in a new window on the nove.slovensko.sk portal. The application may also be submitted in paper form. The application must be signed by both parents or by another legal representative (guardian, trustee, etc.), who must attach a document proving their authorization to represent the minor in legal matters.

Before logging in, you must have:

• an identity card with an electronic chip and a defined security personal code (BOK);
• an electronic card reader;

The following information is recorded for each electronic mailbox:

• the electronic mailbox identifier;
• information about the mailbox owner (name, surname, personal identification number);
• the date and time when the mailbox was established, activated, deactivated, and cancelled;
• the date and time of each access to the mailbox;
• the date and time when the mailbox permissions were changed;
• the date and time when an electronic message was sent and received, together with the identifier of the person who logged into the mailbox or sent the message;
• information about any person who is or was, in addition to the mailbox owner, authorized to manage or use the mailbox, including the scope of their authorization.

Everyone for whom an electronic mailbox has been established is its owner. An electronic mailbox is not subject to ownership rights, and the owner of an electronic mailbox is entitled to use and manage it only in the manner stipulated by the e-Government Act.
