Who is counted towards income When assessing income, the following are taken into account: your income, and the income of jointly assessed persons (for example a husband/wife or parents, if you are a dependent child). The resulting income is determined as an average per person.
How income is assessed Income is assessed as the average monthly income for the previous calendar year. If you receive recurring allowances, the income is reassessed once a year.
Income limits At a higher income, you cannot obtain some allowances:
allowances for increased expenses – income must not exceed 3 times the subsistence minimum,
the transport allowance and one-off allowances – income must not exceed 5 times the subsistence minimum.
Assessment of assets The application also includes a declaration of assets. If the value of your assets exceeds €50,000, the allowance will not be provided.
Useful tip Some municipalities provide social services or allowances for dependent residents. Each municipality sets the conditions in its generally binding regulations. You can also apply for this assistance electronically through the Slovensko.skOpens in a new window portal: select your municipality and search for the service using the name of the service provided by the municipality.
Example: A person with a severe disability lives with their spouse. The average monthly income is calculated as follows: (the person’s annual income + the spouse’s annual income) ÷ 12 ÷ 2 = average monthly income per person.
